BE100 power transformer

Hi everyone, I'm in the process of building the BE100, but have run into a snag. The recommended PT for this build (40-17452 Magnetic Components) doesn't appear to be available any longer and that in fact the 'Classic Tone' company is no longer trading.

I note that the recommended PT has several output windings; 100v bias tap / HT (voltage unknown) / 6.3v filament heaters / AC power supply to GBU 8B.

In the event that the listed PT cannot be purchased, does anyone have the specs, or info on an equivalent model. I am using an old Marshall 2210 JCM800 chassis and I believe that the fitted OT will be okay, but would I be able to use the existing PT, (HT in the 350v - 370v region) but perhaps with an additional small transformer to provide the AC supply for GBU 8B and if so, what spec would this additional transformer have to meet?

Many thanks for any help,

Kev

This will be a problem for anyone who plans on building any of the amps that have MCI iron listed in the BOM. It would be helpful to those people if you were able to update the BOM and layouts to include transformers that are still available.

Magnetic Compenents Inc. (MCI), located in Chicago, IL was the manufacturer of Classic Tone transformers. When Covid-19 lockdowns were announced in March 2020 Magnetic Components immediately laid off their entire workforce and permanently closed their business. Because the company was not considered "essential" to remain open during the lockdown the company immediately folded. Management understood that there was no possibility of the company staying in business as it had bills to pay, while the lockdown forced them to have no manufacturing revenue. MCI wasn't able to remain a viable concern with the factory closed, so the owners immediately closed the company down and sold off all of their assets. That's what happens when a company needs to produce product in order to stay open, and someone commands them to shut down operations -- the result is that what was once a viable company goes right out of business.

Many amp manufacturers still don't have transformer suppliers because of the operational close-downs that came with Covid-19. Supply chains were permanently disrupted when manufacturers were forced out of business. The loss of their transformer supplier has been really hard on MESA. It is my understanding that 5 years later their amp orders are still backlogged in the USA, amps are still on backorder and they won't even consider shipping any product to the EU.
